Mets Daily Prospect Report, 6/12/24: Baty goes deep, Osborn hits grand slam (2024)

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (39-24)

SYRACUSE 8, LEHIGH VALLEY 3 (BOX)

Brett Baty hit an early two-run home run and had a big night at the plate as Syrcause won by a fairly comfortable margin. On the prospect front, however, things didn’t go so great, as Blade Tidwell had another so-so outing in Triple-A, where he’s struggled lately following a promotion from Double-A Binghamton a few weeks ago.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (29-27)

BINGHAMTON 6, SOMERSET 3 (BOX)

Binghamton fell behind 3-0 early in the game but nabbed a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to make things close. Trailing by one in the bottom of the eighth, Ponies catcher Drake Osborn hit a grand slam to put Binghamton ahead 6-3. And that wound up being the final score.

ROSTER ALERT: C Jose Hernandez transferred from Double-A Binghamton to Single-A St. Lucie

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (30-28)

HUDSON VALLEY 13, BROOKLYN 4 (BOX)

In the middle of the fifth inning, the Cyclones had a 2-0 lead, but everything changed in the bottom of that inning. Hudson Valley scored five runs in the fifth, and after Brooklyn answered with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, the Renegades put up a six-run sixth inning. They tacked on two more in the seventh, but the Cyclones were held scoreless over the final three innings.

Single-A: St. Lucie Mets (19-39)

JUPITER 11, ST. LUCIE 10 (BOX)

In a game that saw a whopping 21 runs scored, the St. Lucie Mets came up just short. Over the first three innings of this one, the Mets plated five runs, but they allowed three runs in each of the first, second, and third innings. Things settled down a bit from there, as they gave up just one run in the fifth and one in the eighth the rest of the way, but the damage had been done. A five-run ninth inning by St. Lucie got them within one, but they couldn’t quite complete the comeback.

ROSTER ALERT: 2B Marco Vargas placed on the 7-day injured list

Rookie: DSL Mets Blue (2-4)
